#voraciouslyindulgent      An Independent, Selective, & Private portrayal of  TARN of the DJD from Transforners: IDW (2005). Canon Divergent & Headcanon Based. Multiverse friendly.     written by  hatsu  (they/them, 30+)

RULES

  • Selective, private, mutuals only, Cybertronian-centric.

  • 21+ for general interaction. 25+ for shipping.

  • I am not up to date with Transformers content. Other than the "TF: One" movie, I haven't seen/read anything Transformers since ~2015, so my knowledge is outdated and sparse. I'm primarily interested in exploring/building relationships with Tarn and my side muses. Multiverse shenanigans are of course welcome. Just FYI I'm not caught up.

  • All IC interactions are mutuals-only. OOC asks/memes are open to non-mutuals.

  • With that said, I am not a meme source. Please either reblog from the source, or practice reblog karma.

  • No godmodding/powerplaying or metagaming. Please do not try to influence serious ongoing threads through anon asks.

  • This blog is heavily canon-divergent. Please read bio for further info. If you're expecting canonically correct Tarn, look elsewhere.

  • This blog does NOT follow the Glitch/Damus backstory.

  • I will not be interacting with duplicates of Tarn.

  • No M!As.

  • On Formatting: Please trim your posts. Blogs with heavy formatting, special fonts, double/triple spacing, and/or coloured text will not be followed due to eyestrain. Small text with icons and usual italics/bolding is fine.

  • NSFW may happen, and if it does, it will be tagged and marked with a banner, but not read-more'd. Please blacklist "nsfw text" if you don’t want to see smut content.

  • Single-ship: (Updated Nov 24th, 2024) Tarn is now single-ship with Pharma (nonmaleficence). IC-wise, he also has an established political marriage, but Pharma is his paramour. For more detailed info on the nature of his relationships, please see the section titled "Tarn's Relationships".

  • Preferred RP style: multi-para and/or banter.

  • Unless your muse has a good reason to be invincible and/or immune to harm, Tarn can likely overpower your muse. Please take this into consideration.

  • This blog will not be tagging canon-typical dark themes. Tarn is a villain. Please do not interact if you are triggered by violence or morally dubious behaviour.

  • Mun =/= muse.

  • All correspondences will be over comm.s unless your muse has reason to be in New Kaon or aboard the Peaceful Tyranny. Location meetings between our muses must be plotted through PMs.

  • Drama should be IC not OOC. Thank you.

  • I do not follow-for-follow, and I block liberally. If I see something I'd rather not see from a blog I don't intend to interact with, I will block and move on. It's nothing personal.

[T]he Empire is not yours alone. It is not something to belong to any one person. It is not exclusive even to the Founder. It lives through all of us, regardless of our origins. Every single spark that wears the badge proudly is a part of the Decepticon Empire of all worlds.

TARN'S RELATIONSHIPS

  • Tarn's truest and deepest love will always be his universe's Megatron, who is now deceased after a lengthy trial and subsequent execution by the Autobots and the Galactic Council. Disillusioned and heartbroken, he has decided to extend his loyalty to the Decepticon Empire of the multiverse.

  • In his main verse, Tarn is legally wedded / conjunx endura with a lieutenant of the Empire of another universe, where the Decepticons won and have been restoring Cybertron. He entered a union with her to ensure the bulk of his assets would go to the Empire in the case of his unexpected and untimely demise. They are not spark-bonded, and their joining is political between two dear friends.

  • Tarn is particularly fond of Pharma (nonmaleficence). Now that he's settled down in a universe of peace, Tarn has 'recruited' the Pharma of his world for his medical expertise, and is currently courting the medijet. They live together in Tarn's new tower, and Tarn is under the belief Pharma reciprocates his intentions. Only time can tell whether or not that is true.

PRE-WAR   For the Cybertron from which Eidos hails, the House Ecclesius is one of the longest lineage of nobility Houses in history. However, by the time he was sparked - the runt of five children, his House was already in disgrace after generations of poor conduct and mismanagement. Eidos was very sickly as a sparkling, and he would’ve become a second-rate noble at best with only a small portion of inheritance, but ambitious as he was, he sabotaged his siblings until he was the sole heir, seizing power of his House with an iron grip. From there, Eidos bonded into the most prominent family of Praxus at the time, and climbed through the ranks of governance until he became the Senator of his home city of Praxus, where he ruled for many centuries. He extended his influence and finances to other cities as well, most notably as the sole patron of many Kaonite gladiatorial fighting pits. He'd just begun to dabble into intergalactic trade and real-estate by the time Megatron started to gain fame as a gladiator. When the war arrived, Eidos escaped Cybertron with his entourage, and ventured deep into the far reaches of space to bide his time.  THE GREAT WAR   Eidos took up residence on Cierran-6, one of the planets he'd purchased and owns, and spent his time building a comfortable place to live for himself and any other Cybertronian nobles seeking refuge. Throughout the duration of the long war, he focused his attention on growing his substantial wealth, and, as the sovereign of Cierran-6, participated in intergalactic politics to both cement his influence on a wider scale and in preparation of his eventual return to Cybertron, once the war has either ceased or died out on its own.  CURRENT   With the War over and Cybertron at precarious peace, Eidos returned to his home planet, bringing many gifts in the form of an abundance of supplies vital to the restoration of the world. With his wealth as leverage, he has begun to rebuild Praxus where it had once stood, and is in the process of establishing Neo Praxus as the first fully functional city on post-war Cybertron. He is aware that his only remaining offspring no longer resides in their home universe, but unlike Tarn, his primary focus is on his own world.

PERSONALITY    Eidos abhors violence, and thus he always sends his underlings to do the dirty work. He is mild-mannered but tenacious, driven by his self-serving ambitions. He is chaste, ruthless, cunning, and conniving with an immovable will. However, he can be extremely charming when he has reason to be. Like most power-mongering (ex-)Senators, he is uncaring for the well-being of others for the sake of his goal, but he is not needlessly cruel, and he recognizes the importance of kindness where it matters. He is a seasoned actor and manipulator. Unless your muse has suffered his cruelty personally, he seems entirely pleasant and sincere.  FLAWS
- Classist. Technoist in his staunch belief that Cybertronians are naturally superior and disposed to rule over all other alien races.
- A casual Functionist only when it serves him. He believes lineage and legacy dictates one's position in society rather than one's alt. mode.
- Especially racist against organics.
- Obsessed with gems and expensive fabrics.

A patient that says please, the doctor quicker sees.

PRE-WAR   Prior to the war, Gyrodyne's life was boringly normal and smooth-sailing. He studied well, went to a prestigious academy, and became a brain module surgeon at Iacon General Hospital. He had a cushy income and a big apartment suite at an expensive part of town, but his busy schedule meant he did not have any relations outside of his job, which left him lonely. It was during this time that his fascination with recycling Cybertronian parts flourished. This led to him getting caught smuggling corpses from the morgue for his 'personal research'. He was then fired from the hospital, and had his license revoked. With no way to practice medicine legally, Gyrodyne started a private underground clinic in Kaon. This was how he caught the attention of Eidos, and he soon found himself employed by the Senator. It was during his time of working as a medic for gladiators that he heard about Megatron and the Decepticon movement. He was immediately swept up by the idea of belonging to a Cause bigger than himself, so he signed on without second thought.  THE GREAT WAR   Despite his lack of combat experience, Gyrodyne often volunteered to go on the front lines as a field medic. His insistence on treating all injured bots, regardless of faction, resulted in many punishments from his immediate commander and bullying from his peers, as they saw his actions as betrayal. He also lacked the skills and vigilance to take care of himself in an active war zone, which led to multiple near deaths and subsequent rescues. He was eventually sent to work for the DJD as their personal medic, as the DJD did not often participate in direct battle. He stayed with the DJD for a long time, but eventually got reassigned to the medibay of an off-world Decepticon base, where he stayed for the rest of the war.  CURRENT   After the announcement that the war is over, Gyrodyne loitered and wandered for some time, unsure if he wanted to return to an Autobot-run Cybertron. The news of Megatron's execution terrified him, causing him to contact Tarn in a panic. He remained with Tarn until now, going so far as to follow the tankformer to another universe. He now resides in Tarn's tower, and works at the newly-built New Kaon General Hospital. To this day, Gyrodyne remains oblivious to Tarn's familial connection with Eidos. He's just happy to work in a hospital again in a world where the 'Cons won.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION   Gyrodyne is a brightly coloured tiny copter who has no fighting prowess whatsoever. His paintjob is borderline gaudy but not too offensive. He often gets mistaken for an Autobot, but he refuses to change his colours. Strictly an essential non-combatant, he is one of the few Decepticons who wear the Iaconian Seal of Medicine upon his wings to indicate exemption from enemy fire, though this did not always ensure his safety. He is light, but not particularly agile, and wounds easily. He isn't streamlined or battle-savvy like Seekers are, and his rotor blades often get in the way of his reflexes. He is not very athletic, and has only survived the war thanks to his colleagues and, later on, being far from the front lines.  PERSONALITY    Gyrodyne is excitable, moody, bubbly, and highly emotional, with a tendency for bursting into tears at the slightest perceived hurtful comment. Ironically, he also has a hard time realizing when he's being threatened or made fun of. Flighty of mind but undoubtedly intelligent, he yearns for long-lasting friendships and forming connections with others. He is very easy to manipulate, and warms up to others instantly. His work as a surgeon and oath as a medic is the only boundary he will never budge on.Quick to trust. Quick to forgive. Can't keep a secret to save his life. If he were charismatic, he probably would've started a cult.  RECYCLISM    Gyrodyne is an avid practitioner and advocator of 'recyclism', a word he made up. It is the belief all Cybertronian parts should be repurposed, even when they cannot be reused through conventional means. Processed energon from corpses is the easiest to recycle. Components such as optics, internal wiring, spark-housing, and other types of innards can be prepared for consumption as well.Gyrodyne has been a part of the recyclist movement since before the war, with himself as the only known member. He staunchly refutes the accusations of cannibalism against him, claiming that is not what he does, but he's gained a reputation as a cannibal anyway. Some rumours even say his personality is the result of eating too many weird things, a notion he finds highly offensive.

Pluck from my lips the songs of yearning. Steal from my intakes the gasps of pleas.
Render every mask shattered with your touch.
Inspire within me, shivers, ones that beseech for infinite submission—
of your grip around my neck.

NOTE: My interpretation of Tarn is HIGHLY CANON-DIVERGENT. He has an original backstory, which heavily informs his characterization and motivation.  PRE-WAR   Not much is known of Tarn's past. Only his closest confidantes are aware of the broad strokes. He is the sole surviving offspring of the Senator of his native Praxus, whom he'd lost favour from at a young age. The exact reason for his shunning is unknown, but it happened around the same time the full extent of his outlier ability manifested. His association with his world's Megatron began with his sponsorship of the ex-gladiator, something his sire (the Senator) had pushed unto him. He was swift to pledge himself to the Cause, and aided in the invasion of his home city Praxus.  THE GREAT WAR   By taking up a new name and donning a new face, Tarn devoted himself to the Empire, grateful for a new start in life. He was a formidable force on the front lines alongside his Lord. However, his presence was a constant reminder to his Megatron of their shared past as patron and slave, and thus he was eventually reassigned as the Commander of the Decepticon Justice Division. Tarn begged his Lord to allow him to stay by his side, but his pleas received no kindness. For the rest of the war, Tarn worked as the Empire's executioner, a post he found great pride in but nonetheless lamented.  CURRENT   Upon receiving news of his Megatron's defection, Tarn was overwrought with grief. He resolved to enact judgement upon the Founder for this ultimate betrayal, but he never got the chance to do so, as his Megatron was trialed and executed by the Autobots and the Galactic Council. It was as though the whole war amounted to nothing, and that the Decepticons had fought and died for nothing. This nearly destroyed Tarn, but after many encounters through the multiverse, he found a new purpose: dedicating all of his assets to aid a world where the Empire triumphed and Cybertron was being restored. This is where he is now, in New Kaon, using the wealth and influence from his past to fund the city and its infrastructure, building towers and establishing public services for the droves of Cybertronians returning home.

  PERSONALITY
Obsessive, passionate, insatiable, driven by a spark of yearning and consumption, Tarn is very much governed by his needs and his inability to truly assuage them. He longs to have purpose and acceptance from those he reveres, and, despite being an adequate leader for the DJD, prefers to dedicate himself in servitude to those he considers greater.
HIS VOICE    Tarn can hear and intimately feel the frequency of a spark. He has the ability to match that frequency with his own spark, the effect of which most proficiently manifests through his voice. He can coax the pulse of a target spark to slow, and draw out its energy until it extinguishes. He cannot kill through comm.s, but as long as his target can hear him, he has control. Face-to-face interactions allow him to have a much more accurate grasp on the song of a spark. The root of his ability comes from his own spark's constant craving to feast upon the sparks of others. Tarn experiences a euphoria unlike any other when he kills with his voice, but it is a vice he dares not allow to grow. This hunger and the satiation of it are not necessary for Tarn's livelihood, nor do they give him a boost in vitality. In essence, it is a hedonistic desire that has no function in of itself. The sole purpose of his ability is so his spark can gorge, which is the source of his voracious nature and the cause for his addiction to T-cogs - a replacement/alternative to keep his more dangerous appetite at bay.Despite his power, Tarn is not invincible. While the root of his ability is in his spark, his voice is the only reliable way for it to be used, so muting him by disabling his vocalizer or ripping it out would render him unable to access his ability. This also means changing/replacing his vocalizer will not get rid of his magic voice, since its source is in his spark.(All of the above regarding Tarn's ability is NOT common knowledge. Very few characters are aware of the true nature of his power. Unless your character has been told about this IC, they do not know about it.)

  MAIN VERSE        Canon-Divergent.
- Untagged
- This is the default verse for all interactions.
- With his Megatron executed, Tarn has no more attachment to his own universe. He is currently stationed in New Kaon of another universe, where the Decepticons are victorious. He is focused on restoration efforts, and is generally more at ease with Autobots and neutrals, who are allowed to return to Cybertron under the condition they will submit to Decepticon rule.
